Thinking + doing beyond our interests

In order to succeed in business – that’s everything from profit to a healthy community – we need to willingly and intentionally hold ourselves accountable for those things that are beyond our own interests.
Businesses with leaders who embody being both responsible and selfless are more successful in a broad range of metrics because their example, decisions and guidance has a ripple effect beyond the immediate specifics.
A seemingly simple decision on promotional pricing touches more than gross profit for one reporting period.
Considering the broader implications of choices and behavior will almost certainly make the answers to some questions and decisions more difficult and less clear.
But the cumulative effect of using a bigger set of criteria for in leadership will improve employee engagement,, creativity, community stability, a businesses reputation, and yes, profit – just to name a few – and isn’t that the goal of what we are doing?
