Klokov Equipment Factory Education

Klokov Equipment’s mission: to provide high quality weightlifting equipment, on par with the best in the world.

The best equipment was made in very high-labor rate countries: Sweden, Japan, and the US.  While China had made some equipment for the Olympic Games (where Dmitry Klokov won a Silver medal), producing high-end equipment there meant teaching the factories to manufacture using materials and tolerances that were new to them.

Steel strong enough to eat tools.

In order to price the equipment so that “ordinary” weightlifters could afford it, we needed to manufacture where labor rates were lower than the competition.  Many of the company members had experience in China, and the factories agreed to work with our requirements.

Specifically, Klokov Equipment needed steel that was stronger than what Chinese factories were used to using.  Steel that was hard enough to eat through their tools, and steel that had properties that they were unused to.

Through trial and error, many, many months of travel, instruction, failed attempts and a rigorous QC, we succeeded in producing high quality equipment at reasonable prices.
